New Public Art in Lee’s Summit This Summer

So a velociraptor, a feather and some melty-gooey popsicles stroll in to Downtown Lee’s Summit.

Wait… What?!

Something exciting for has made its way to Lee’s Summit just in time for this socially distant summer! Visitors can enjoy six public art sculptures that make up the first ever Downtown Sculpture Walk. From a 10-foot long velociraptor on the prowl and frozen popsicles glistening in the afternoon sun, to a solar powered “orb” that lights up the sidewalk at night. Grab yourself a cup a coffee and enjoy these sculptures as you window shop through downtown.

For an interactive experience in the palm of your hand, download OTOCAST to your smartphone. OTOCAST is a free app where viewers can access a GIS exhibit map, pictures of each sculpture and hear a recorded description of each piece directly from the artist. Viewers can look at a sculpture and learn about their favorite piece directly from the artist.

Looking for more public art? Lee’s Summit Parks and Rec introduced two sculptures to their facilities this summer as a part of the Missouri “Sculpture on the Move” program. You can find “Fill the Void” at Summit Park and “Twisted Sister” at the Lee’s Summit Amphitheater. Both sculptures will be on loan to the parks until 2022. Check them out!
